Buddhism in the West
Diamond Way Buddhism attracts educated and independent people; it is a practical and solid system which helps to develop the inherent qualities and richness of mind.
Although there are many different buddhist centers of different lineages in the west, this web page is about more than 600 lay centers of the Diamond Way Buddhism of the Karma Kagyu tradition. These centers have been founded and are directed by Lama Ole Nydahl and are under the spiritual guide of the Seventeenth Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje.
Diamond Way centers have a democratical structure and function thanks to the idealistic and voluntary work of their members, based on friendship and idealism. The Karma Kagyu school offers practical teachings that can be easily applied to daily life and a vast number of methods to develop the riches and clarity of mind, both through meditation and daily activities.
The roof of the Diamond Way Buddhism is held by three pillars: non-dogmatic, clear teachings, meditation and means to solidify the levels of conciousness one reaches through meditation. Diamond Way Buddhism offers the highest methods Buddha taught to the modern world, those that help us discover and develop our inner riches for the benefit of all beings and ourselves.
